CARREFOUR FRANCE AND FM LOGISTIC INAUGURATE THE EXTENSION OF THE LAUDUN PLATFORMFrance
In 2007 Carrefour France entrusted FM Logistic with its platform at Laudun L’Ardoise 50 km from Nîmes for it to manage the logistics for the non-food products for its hypermarkets in southern France. Ten years on, the warehouse has been extended to enable the distributor to deliver to almost 450 stores (Carrefour hypermarkets and Carrefour Market supermarkets) by 2018, compared to 45 currently, relying on a workforce that will eventually increase from 170 to 320 employees.
This development is part of a process of simplification and modernisation of Carrefour’s supply chain, with the aim of supplying its stores in the South of France whilst reducing transport costs and limiting its environmental impact.
A site covering a total area of 93,000 m² fitting comfortably into its environment
Extended from 57,000 m² to 93,000 m², this site dedicated to non-food products offers all at once operational efficiency, a strategic location and high environmental performance. 6 new storage compartments have been added to the 9 existing ones, including 2 dedicated exclusively to the storage of classified products (such as aerosols and inflammables).
Classified "SEVESO lower tier", this extension also includes an extra central office as well as staff communal areas and facilities.
Designed to use renewable energies, the new buildings feature installations used in eco-construction such as 30,000 m² of photovoltaic panels on the roof, enough to supply 500 homes a year with power. The site is also equipped with a heat pump coupled with a condensing boiler for heating and air conditioning. Finally, a waste collection area is planned to facilitate selective sorting operations.
An asset for Carrefour in the South of France
The extension will provide 44 extra docks for Carrefour’s products bringing the total to 130, as well as a storage capacity of 90,000 pallet locations and a total of 730,000 pallets shipped every year.
"The modern site at Laudun meets all our operational needs and has become a considerable asset supporting the retail chain’s multi-format development in the South of France," says Florence Batchourine, Carrefour’s Supply Chain Manager.
