FM Logistic has achieved TAPA FSR Level A (Facility Security Requirements) certification for its logistics center in Illescas (Toledo). This recognition represents the highest global security standard and is the result of a significant leap forward, moving directly from Level C (the initial level) to Level A (the highest and most demanding level) of the TAPA (Transported Asset Protection Association).

“Elite protection” for the supply chain

TAPA A FSR certification is considered the “gold standard” that guarantees FM Logistic’s customers the ability to protect high-value goods against organized crime, under the world’s strictest security standards.

TAPA (Transport Asset Protection Association) is a global security certification association. TAPA A FSR (Facility Security Requirements) certification validates the security of the facility. Unlike a standard logistics center, which is designed to optimize space and speed, a TAPA A-certified facility is designed to protect the facility and goods against organized crime without compromising operational efficiency.

The keys to transformation: investing in proactive security

To achieve Level A, the school in Illescas implemented significant improvements:

  • Perimeter and physical infrastructure: The exterior barriers were reinforced with high-security fencing, smart perimeter lighting, and controlled access points for heavy vehicles, with the aim of deterring and delaying any attempted intrusion.
  • Access control and internal security: The space was divided into different security levels. Smart card access systems were implemented, and high-security enclosures are in place.
  • 24/7 technology monitoring: High-definition CCTV with full coverage. The intrusion alarm system features continuous monitoring and is connected to an external Alarm Monitoring Center (AMC), and recordings are stored for a minimum of 30 days with redundant backup.
  • Loading dock operations: The loading dock, the most vulnerable point, now features truck locking systems, mandatory sealing, and safe waiting areas for drivers.
  • Human factors and cybersecurity: Rigorous pre-employment screening procedures were implemented, the culture of reporting and awareness was strengthened, and cybersecurity in the WMS was improved.

The value of operational discipline

We have taken a major step forward in security standards by achieving TAPA Level A certification, because we understand that a culture of security, standardization, and strict adherence to processes are the true bulwark of security, ensuring maximum protection for our customers’ goods,” says Fernando López Castelló, Facility Manager at FM Logistic Ibérica.

Although technology is crucial, the most important aspect of security is the standardization and adherence to processes. This operational discipline acts as the “true shield,” ensuring that all protocols—from human factor control to real-time traceability and rigorous monitoring at transition points (loading and unloading)—are applied without fail.

By obtaining TAPA A FSR certification, FM Logistic Illescas consolidates its position as a leader in logistics security, offering the highest level of protection for its customers’ goods.
