Today FM Logistic inaugurated its new B5 and B6 modules in its Illescas warehouse, in an event that included the participation of the president of Castilla-La Mancha, Emiliano García-Page; the mayor of Illescas, José Manuel Tofiño; the Minister of Economy, Business and Employment of Castilla-La Mancha, Patricia Franco; the managing director of FM Logística Ibérica, Marta Simón; the deputy general director of FM Logistic Ibérica, Javier de la Morena; the Director of Operations of FM Logistic Ibérica, Óscar Reyes and the site manager of FM Logistic Illescas, Juan Manzanares.
‘This extension, which adds a total of 19,199.90 m² to the logistics platform, is a crucial step forward in strengthening FM Logistic’s operational infrastructure in the region,’ argued Juan Manzanares. With module B5 adding 8,202.83 m², a battery room of 79.17 m², and module B6 adding 9,900.53 m² together with 1,017.37 m² of office space, the platform now has a total surface area of 76,096.14 m².
‘These new spaces not only allow us to expand our operational capabilities, also reinforce our role as a strategic partner for our customers, offering advanced logistics solutions, focused on digitisation, sustainability and efficiency,’ adds Juan Manzanares. This warehouse incorporates the latest logistics technologies, such as optimised storage height, special flooring that protects equipment and automated docks that improve efficiency. Equally, one of the things that sets FM Logistic apart from the competition is the safety and well-being of both its employees and its local communities. ‘We have implemented the strictest safety measures, obtaining Seveso and TAPA certification among others, and we remain committed to creating a safe, efficient and comfortable working environment for everyone,’ says Juan Manzanares.
At the opening ceremony, Patricia Franco, highlighted the importance of the logistics sector as a driver of regional development. Logistics represents 10% of the regional GDP and generates 6.7% of employment in the region, a figure above the national average. Franco underlined that Castilla-La Mancha has reached the highest employment figure in its history, with 788,471 people affiliated to the Social Security in September 2024.
FM Logistic’s project in Illescas, started in 2016, has seen several expansions, with the Company leading sustainable initiatives, such as the incorporation of a hydrogen plant at its facilities. This project reflects Castilla-La Mancha’s progress towards a more sustainable and digitised economy, supported by the government’s efforts to attract investments that generate employment and wealth for the region.
‘I clearly remember that 26 October 2016, when we celebrated the laying of the first stone of this warehouse. At that time, we were honoured to also have the presence of Mr Emiliano García-Page, who even then showed us his unconditional support to make this project a reality. And here we are today, inaugurating a new expansion of our facilities, which reflects not only the success of our initial commitment, but also the potential we always saw in this region’, said Marta Simón.
FM Logistic has always believed in the strategic value of Castilla-La Mancha as a first class logistics hub. The location is perfect: well connected to the main transport axes, which allows them to offer their customers fast and efficient solutions. ‘But it is not only a question of location; it is also a question of vision. The vision to grow in a sustainable way, focusing on innovation and efficiency and that vision for the future remains strong. I would like to remind you, as you may know, that we have recently acquired a plot of land of more than 60,000 square metres in Guadalajara, in the El Ruiseñor Sur industrial estate, for the construction of a new multi-customer logistics platform. This new centre, which will initially occupy 35,000 square metres, will have similar characteristics to those of our warehouse in Illescas and will be operational at the beginning of 2026’, Marta Simón pointed out.
